⚡️🇮🇹 NEW- Italy’s state-owned channel…

⚡️🇮🇹 NEW- Italy’s state-owned channel TG3 opened its newscast with an explicit message of solidarity with the September 22 nationwide general strike for Gaza. The anchor read a statement on behalf of TG3’s newsroom committee (CDR), saying:

“The journalists of TG3 share solidarity with today’s general strike — an outcry in support of the Palestinian population subjected to military occupation, a daily massacre of civilians, health workers, and journalists, and mass deportations carried out by the Israeli government.”

Note: RAI (Italy’s public broadcaster) is under government oversight, and the ruling coalition is right-wing and broadly pro-Israel. For a RAI channel to use language like “massacre” and “mass deportations” on air is a sharp break from the official rhetoric of the Italian government, which has so far blocked or watered down EU measures related to Gaza, resisting sanctions or any serious pressure on Israel.
