⚡️🇮🇩 NEW - Construction of a 600-ft-tall elevator on a beach in Bali has been halted after locals fumed over the multimillion-dollar eyesore.
Authorities & investors thought the huge elevator was a perfect addition to Kelingking Beach, located on an island off the coast of Bali.
The elevator was initially built to boost tourism in the area.
Locals argue that tourists are there for the beautiful views, not a quick elevator ride to the bottom.
"It’s the most beautiful landscape we’ve ever seen, but this elevator ruins it," one tourist said.
Bali officials say construction has been temporarily stopped until local officials meet to discuss next steps.
